Donut Shop Turns into a Sweet Cottage May 22 2026

One of our favorite things to do after a new product release is to show you how to build something new with the new blocks! We combined a Core Set with the Donut Shop to create this sweet house for Rosie the Reading Mouse.

When the snow finally melts and the trees leaf out (only in the past few weeks in Minnesota!) our girls take to the front porch (or under the big maple tree...or in the maple tree) with their books. We thought Rosie should do the same thing.

Don't have the donut shop? Release four of the 4x1 Pillars with two 4x2s. Or replace the 4x1 front pillars with bricks - there are so many different ways to build!

Donut Shops being out mean that it is time to show a mix-up with some of our Donut Shop blocks! Our favorite mouse loves to read on the porch on spring days. To create this build, we used our Core Set, Donut Shop and a single Gem block to create this house.

 Blocks Needed

1 – 8x2 Flat                                               2 – 4x1 Donut Shop Pillars

1 - 4x2 Door (any style)                            2 – 1x1 Flats

1 – 2x2 Window (any style)                      1 - 1x1 Gem Block – any style!

3 – 4x1 Pillars                                          1-  2x1 Pillar

2 – 4x2 Triangles                                     1 – 4x1 Triangle

Anything to decorate! We chose grass, trees and books.

1.    Lay out a 8x2 flat as a platform. It also works as a great threshold for the house.

2.      Place a plain 4x1 Pillar in the center. Add the door and then another pillar to the left.

3.      Place the 2x1 Pillar horizontally next to the 4x1 Pillar. Top with 2 flats with a gem in the center. Add the window and stabilize it with a solid 4x1 Pillar on the right end.

4.      Place 2 4x2 triangles along the top as the roof.

5.      Add the Donut Shop Striped Pillars in front of your solid 4x1 Pillars. Place the 4x1 Triangle on top.

6.      Time to decorate! We chose grass and two trees, and a stack full of books.
